O’Hare is a community located on the far northwest side of Chicago, Illinois. As one of Chicago’s 77 official community areas, the O’Hare neighborhood is a major business center. This district serves as an edge city, which means it offers many jobs, and entertainment and shopping options. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has its headquarters in O’Hare. This is the largest Lutheran denomination in the United States. The Consulate-General of the Dominican Republic is also located in O’Hare.
Companies that have office space in O’Hare include IGA, U.S. Cellular, True Value, Bally Total Fitness, and Nippon Cargo Airlines. Nippon has its Americas headquarters on the property of O’Hare International Airport.
At the airport you can see a Brachiosaurus skeleton, located in Terminal 1, Concourse B. The dinosaur is used to promote the Field Museum in Near South Chicago. There is also a replica of Butch O’Hare’s F3F-4 fighter plane which was flown by the airport’s namesake. It hangs in the main hall of Terminal 2. In the airport, Gold Coast Dogs serves their version of Chicago-style hot dogs. There is also the much loved Sky Bridge - specializing in gyros, kebabs, and other Greek cuisine.
O’Hare International Airport is one of the biggest and busiest airports in the world. This international facility serves the city of Chicago and the rest of the Chicagoland area. The Kennedy Expressway (made up of I-90 and I-94) directly links the airport to Chicago and passes straight by the O-Hare region. The North Cumberland Avenue connects to the Expressway and runs straight through O-Hare. There are several train and bus services in the O’Hare neighborhood.
