Arizona is a state in the south west of the United States. The capital and largest city of this state is phoenix and the second largest city is Tucson. It is located in the south west of the country bordered by California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, and the Mexican state of Sonora. The main industries in Arizona are manufacturing, tourism and mining. The major manufacturing facilities are located in Phoenix and Tucson and while gold, silver and other ores are all found in the state’s soil, the mining industry is largely focused on copper. The economy in Arizona is largely based on health care, transportation, and government services. Entertainment And Dining Out

There are many things to see and do in Arizona, many are outdoor activities that include hiking, backpacking, rock-climbing and hunting, and camping – all within an hour’s drive of Arizona’s major city centers. The Grand Canyon in Arizona dominates the landscape and is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Known for its Southwestern cuisine, this type of food includes a fusion of Mexican and United States dishes. Southwestern dishes include an Arizona/California burrito (Huge, plate-size burrito with meat, beans and lots of cheese), and an Arizona cheese crisp (open-faced, flour tortilla covered in shredded cheese, baked until crisp on top.). Cactus is also edible and can be eaten fried or in salads. In some of the upscale restaurants in Phoenix and other cities you will see Ostrich on the menu. Arizona is home to large Ostrich ranches. Chandler, Arizona hosts the annual ’Ostrich Festival’ which features ostrich races, and dishes made from ostrich meat and eggs.

Transport Information

Arizona’s main airport is the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. It is located between downtown Phoenix and Tempe. Arizona is well connected with federal or state highways. There are border-crossings with Mexico in the state. There is Greyhound bus service and some Amtrak train service in the state. Most of the state’s major cities such as the Greater Phoenix area, Tucson, Flagstaff, and Sedona, offer some form of public transportation.
