Entertainment And Dining Out

One of the most incredible natural sights in the state of Alaska is Denali National Park. This park is home to Mt. McKinley, North America’s highest mountain peak. The mountain was called Denali by the native Athabascan Indians, and is where the park got its name. This protected wilderness area contains grizzly bears, caribou, moose, wolves, and numerous other animals. It is located 240 miles north of Anchorage and 120 miles south of Fairbanks. Another great wilderness area to explore is Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve. Besides being a national park it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the Alaskan Panhandle, the park is popular for its massive glaciers. You can kayak, hike, and explore the area for wildlife. Alaskan food specialties include items such as fireweed honey, spruce tip syrup, and its abundant seafood. With rich fishing grounds offering delicacies that include King and Snow crab, many local restaurants that are situated near the ocean also serve fresh halibut and salmon. The Old Powerhouse is a famous sushi bar that resides on the south coast of Alaska; it is located within an old power station and serves fresh Alaskan fish in a variety of Japanese inspired ways.
