Yorkshire is a county in the north of England and is known for being a major media hub, a historical centre, and a place with diverse and fascinating culture. Considered as one of the most naturally beautiful counties in the country, Yorkshire is also referred to as “God’s own County”. From the Celts to the Romans and beyond, Yorkshire has seen many forms of governance, each leaving a mark on the area. It was also one of the biggest contributors to Britain’s economy during the industrial revolution. The Peak District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Howardian Hills are just some of the places that define the beauty of the county. There are also many fascinating areas to explore within Yorkshire such as major cities like Leeds, Bradford and Halifax as well as smaller towns and communities.

Business Information

Yorkshire makes a massive economic contribution to England, even today, and is a major centre for financial and business services as well as manufacturing companies. Asda, Comet, Yorkshire Bank, Little Chef, Halifax Bank and Jaeger Ilkley are just some of the companies that have offices in the area. The county has many law firms, financial advisors, business consultants, IT firms, software development companies, website design firms and advertising agencies as well. Plaxton, Wharfedale and Optare also have office space in Yorkshire, as do Magnet Kitchens and Burtons.

Entertainment And Dining Out

Yorkshire is a major player when it comes to entertainment, with a huge number of live-music and performance venues. The Grand Opera House in York pulls in massive crowds for classical music performances while West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds is all about exciting theatre and stage performances. Dining out in the area is just as exciting, with Marco at Milano providing Italian food alongside Rustique, which has traditional French cuisine on offer. Truffles is the place to go to for classic French cooking while Fazenda Rodizio is all about South American cuisine from Brazil, Argentina and beyond.

Transport Information

The A1, A19, M1 and M62 are amongst the major roads and motorways that pass through the county, offering convenient connectivity around the region and to other major cities and towns. The East Coast Mainline connects the region to London via rail, while a number of other networks, including the Harrogate Line and the Pontefract Line, also run through the area. Leeds Bradford Airport and Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport are two of the nearest airports in the county. Hull and Whitby have major harbours in the area.
