Altrincham is situated in Greater Manchester, in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford. Prior to the year 1290 it was a part of Cheshire and was awarded the distinction of being an independent market town at that time. The area grew significantly after the opening of the railway station in 1849 and has continued to prosper thereafter. This affluent commuter town is home to Dunham Massey Hall, a popular tourist attraction that has numerous Grade I listed historical buildings as well as a deer park that brings in a large number of tourists every year.
