Transport Information

The Mauritius Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is located 6km (4 miles) from Mahebourg and 40 km (25 miles) from Port Louis. The best way to get around Mauritius is by bus or taxi. The bus network criss-crosses the island with main routes running between Mahébourg, Curepipe, Port Louis and Grand Baie. Buses are frequent and reliable and express buses also run on these routes, offering a faster commute. Taxis are extremely easy to catch and are an efficient way to travel around the island. You can also rent bicycles, cars, or motorbikes. Mauritius has an extensive network of roads to travel on with the M2 being the major connection between the airport, Vacoas-Phoenix, Quatre Bornes and Port Louis.
