Entertainment And Dining Out
The very small quarter of Luxemburg City known as Grund, offers incredible photo opportunities, and an evening of fun. The preferred way of getting down to this valley below Luxembourg City is to take a ride in the lift that is situated on the Place du St. Esprit. This will take you through the rock, and down to the floor of the valley, dropping you off in a tunnel that leads out to the bridge. The incredible buildings in Grund are built right to the edge of the Alzette River. Many of these building haven’t been changed since they were built. This small area took root when a castle was built in 963. The quarter now serves as a restaurant hub. Traditional Luxembourg dishes are meat and potatoes based, with pork typically being the meat of choice. Gromperekichelchen literally translates to ‘Potato Biscuits,’ and is something you should definitely try. These biscuits are made from potatoes that are shredded, mixed with onions, shallots, and parsley, and then fried. They are often served at markets and fairs.
Transport Information
Luxembourg-Findel International Airport is located 6 km (3 miles) outside of Luxembourg City. There are easy bus transfers to the city centre. The Luxembourg train station offers direct service to Parix, Metz, Brussels, and Trier. There are bus services in and around the city for public transportation. Luxembourg also offers great bike paths throughout the country.
