Stuttgart is the capital of the Baden-Württemberg state, situated in southern Germany. The sixth-largest city in Germany, Stuttgart is surrounded by a ring of smaller towns. This city spreads across several hills, valleys, parks, and vineyards. Stuttgart is one of Germany’s largest wine-growing cities. There are over 400 hectares of vineyards in the district. Stuttgart is home to an annual wine festival, ’Weindorf’. The city also houses several famous breweries such as Stuttgarter Hofbräu, Dinkelacker, and Schwaben Bräu.

Business Information

The Stuttgart economy relies heavily on the high-tech industry. Companies with European headquarters in the area include Daimler AG, Porsche, Bosch, Celesio, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM. Entertainment And Dining Out

Stuttgart is very proud of its ballet company which performs at the Staatstheater. This is a great place to spend an evening, but make sure to reserve tickets in advance. Showing musicals like ‘Cats’ and ‘Miss Saigon’ the Apollo-Theatre is a musical theatre offering a new musical each year. There is an interesting street food speciality in Stuttgart known as the Brezel. You will find this treat at the small wooden cabins located on Konigstrabe, or at many of the bakeries. A Brezel is a pretzel, often served with butter – the name a shortened version of ‘Butterbrezel.’ One superb dining option is Restaurant Cafe Markthalle. The restaurant is part of Stuttgart’s international marketplace. It serves seasonal and regional dishes. The breakfasts here are substantial if you are searching for more than a pastry.

Transport Information

Stuttgart Airport provides the city with international air-travel connections. The main station (Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof) is in the very centre of Stuttgart and rail services are efficient and reliable. Public transportation is provided by the Stadtbahn (U-bahn) and S-Bahn. There are also bus services. Public transportation is fully integrated and tickets can be used on any mixture of buses, trains, or trams in order to get from one point to another within the city.
