Entertainment And Dining Out

A typical Hamburg visit might include a tour of the city hall and the grand church St. Michaelis (called the Michel). You may also want to take a stroll on the harbour promenade (Landungsbrücken). Hamburg is one of the world’s largest harbours and they offer canal boat tours. Cuisine in Hamburg can centre around local dishes such as Birnen, Bohnen und Speck - green beans cooked with pears and bacon, or Bratkartoffeln - pan-fried potato slices. One restaurant in the area is Landhaus Scherrer. It is a ten minute drive from downtown, but the park setting offers a great escape. They serve German Food. Transport Information

The international airport is officially Hamburg Airport (IATA: HAM, ICAO: EDDH). It is just a few km/miles from the city centre. The second airport in Hamburg is Hamburg-Finkenwerder (IATA: XFW, ICAO: EDHI). It is about 10 km from the city centre and is a nonpublic airport for the Airbus plant. Hamburg offers public transport by rail, bus, and ships. There are mass transit rail lines across the city.
