Toulon is a town, port, and capital city of Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur région, within south-eastern France. Toulon serves as France’s principal naval base. Here there is an arsenal, the most important of the Mediterranean dry-docks, and shipbuilding yards. This is a pedestrian area with narrow streets, small squares, and many fountains. The area is also home to the celebrated Provencal market which takes place every morning on the Cours Lafayette, featuring local products.
