Launched in 2022, Venaspace are proud to reveal the transformation of this historic landmark in Bournemouth. With nods to its heritage, Victorian Masonic design and sensitive restoration of some beautiful original features, we have transformed this previously neglected Freemasons Lodge into a modern workspace.
The renovation included a like-for-like replica of the ornate domed ceiling, preservation of the stone cornice and architrave and exposing the original checkered floor, which is a typical design feature of a Masonic ceremony room. The installation of two large mezzanine floor areas have transformed the two halls from their ceremonial days into stunning workspaces, giving way for two meeting rooms and up to 70 workstations.
The carefully considered modern additions to The Lodge supports the future of this building, with air conditioning throughout, luxurious bathrooms and kitchens, and even a solar PV system which is carefully positioned to appear invisible to passers-by.
Between the two halls is a beautiful hallway, almost a miniature version of the newer hall, where the beautiful architrave and original sky lights lead you to the basement which is transformed into a casual workspace, meeting space, foosball-table play room – whatever your team need. The original bar has been restored and redesigned by local artist, using reclaimed building materials salvaged throughout the project.
