Client in the spotlight: Planday

Office Freedom are continuing the mission of innovating the way businesses look for a flexible workspace. Each month, we like to shine the spotlight on some of the companies we’ve helped find their ideal office. Today we’re focusing on Planday, who work in the software industry and specialise in making scheduling, communication, time tracking and HR management simple for all businesses.

Over the years Planday has helped many brands such as Dunkin Donuts and Just Eat. Denise Norman - Executive Assistant, contacted Office Freedom at the start of November looking for a flexible workspace to accommodate their growing team. With the help and guidance of our Account Director Jamie Kendell, Denise ended up finding the perfect workspace, in Chancery Lane.

We caught up with Denise to find out how her and the Planday UK team are settling into their new space.

Hi Denise, what prompted you to look for a new workspace?

We were a team of 30 in London based in St John’s Street which is a building where we occupied two and a bit floors. It soon became evident that the space just wasn’t conducive to a one-team ethos and we would outgrow the space very quickly. We just wanted a space which could accommodate everybody on one floor, be together and that’s when the search began; in November 2018.

How do you feel the workspace solution here works best for Planday?

The entire setup has really worked well for us because even the two months we spent in Hatton Garden, which was a smaller facility, made for a close collaborative and community environment. The guys make use of the Thursday Happy Hour to get together without having to buy beer and prosecco - it’s all included which is a great benefit. The breakout space downstairs is perfect for the events. On a Monday, the team use the breakout space downstairs for weekly meetings. Thursday’s are happy hour, which goes on till about 11:00pm. The space is perfect for teamwork and collaboration with the other businesses around us. Although this is a serviced office, we have our own private floor which is unique allowing us to have our own privacy but also taking part in the community events.

What are the best features of this workspace?

One thing you cannot complain about is the amount of natural light shining through this office. It’s nice to see that as it creates a better work environment. The location is ideal as we also had to think about the travel for our team out in Copenhagen when they are working from London and the extra space here enables our international colleagues to hotdesk.

How did you find working with Jamie and Office Freedom?

To be honest, Jamie had an incredible amount of patience as I think I probably wanted to view this office space about five times. I had to ensure our CEO and finance teams were happy with it. Jamie carried amazing knowledge of the market, which is great when helping you in your search to ensure the space is perfect for your team. I’d recommend Jamie to anybody looking to acquire a flexible workspace.

What’s next for Planday? Anything exciting in the pipeline?

As a company, we’re investing a lot in the software and , our engineering team is based out in Copenhagen and they’re growing rapidly out there, which is why we are looking for offices in that region as well.
